GSHL referee Bob Klein promotes breast cancer awareness by wearing his new shocking pink-striped jersey in Friday night's games.
At Friday night’s regular season opening games at the Marietta Ice Center, no one could miss the flashy new referee jersey worn by referee Bob Klein. The bright pink and black stripes were quickly explained by the writing across his back, “Skate for a cure.”
October is breast cancer awareness month and the Georgia Ice Hockey Officials Association is helping to raise money for the Susan G. Koman foundation. The group has registered a team on the Passionately Pink website where donations can be made by this link. So far, they have collected $1,765, all of which goes to breast cancer research. The Ice Forum’s men’s league is also participating and raised over $5,500 during a recent tournament.
